128: Compost Mortem

Food waste: It’s a small-but-good way to close the loop on climate change. It keeps rich, nutrient-packed bits and pieces out of a landfill (where they break down, sure, but they also release all kinds of gasses and stuff) and also might help your own garden grow.

But my god, it’s also so goddamn gross. And inconvenient. And compost takes F O R E V E R.

So natch, when I got an ad for Lomi on Instagram, I was interested. And then Andrew just got one?? As a gift??Life is so unfair. Because honestly these things ARE pricey. Maybe put it on your holiday gifting list? Because you’re cool and fun?

In today’s ep, Andrew reviews his countertop composter. Listen to it (including the moment he whips out a Tupperware of fluffy stuff that smells like garlic):

We also talked about other stuff - Lola the PodDog joined in the studio because we recorded this IN PERSON!!!!! - including some suggestions for our friend Russell and this greasy driveway. And I would be remiss if I didn’t show one of the products recommended. I mean, just look. LOOK.

LOOK AT HIS LITTLE FACE! That Bolt of Cleanliness may not be especially planet-friendly but if you’re composting your coffee grounds, maybe it evens out?
