119: Trash Cans And Trash Can’ts

Do rich people clean? No, but according to an inside source (read: a listener), it’s mostly because they aren’t engaging in the same kind of everyday behavior as the rest of us normies. There are fewer household chores to do when you’re rarely at home - and when they are at home, well, there are people for that. But also, this sounds honestly a bit miserable.

While being ludicrously, unethically wealthy does sound a little appealing - who wouldn’t want to feel unbothered buying the overpriced, weirdly-coded SimpleHuman-brand trash liners? - there’s something about puttering around my own little sty that makes me feel so comfortable, you know?

Listen to the episode here:

On a somewhat related note, a listener called in to ask how to keep her trash can from getting extremely stinky, and our tips were:

  • Prevention (i.e. take out the trash often, use a food waste container to cut down on the stinky stuff)

  • Baking soda (doy)

  • Scented liners (if you’re a masochist)

  • Or trying something like this, which again, is made especially for those oblong SimpleHuman cans.

But mostly, if your trash can is extra-foul, it’s likely the trash itself. So there’s that.

We also talked about the sounds of summer (many of which have been tarnished by climate change because life is unfair) and another helpful hint about wax removal.

As always, we love to hear from you. Call us! 508-HOW-WASH.
