90: Dishing It Out

When Andrew texted me this story, I had a lot of thoughts. I didn’t express them at the time because a.) baseball was on and b.) why not just save it for the show? So you can hear all about it — and the ways that chores can become beacons for larger relationship problems.

We also got to talking about how my parents used to go on laundry dates. Which is very cute! We also talked about some of the ways that you can divvy up chores in your life, like our listener who turned housekeeping into a competitive sport. Here’s a snippet of their draft sheet:

While we may differ on the scoring system — CLEANING OUT THE HAIR SHOULD WIN FOR THE ENTIRE MONTH, I SAID WHAT I SAID — this idea and making choring competitive in a good way, instead of in a silent, angry, brooding way, is very sound.
