34: Clean Sinks, Full Hearths, Can't Lose
In an episode that takes longer than usual to get to the good stuff (do you enjoy hearing Andrew struggle to remember a documentary about VHS tapes? This is the one for you!), we eventually get to the cleaning stuff and also the Dick Van Dyke discussion.
We talked a lot about soot cleaning and fireplace options, but I’d love to hear if anyone else has had success. I still think dish soap, watered down, and scrubbed off would work.
Listen to the episode here:
An anonymous listener called in to as about better ways to clean behind the sink. She’s right that a lot of dishrags and cloths are entirely too thin and not absorbent enough to clean behind the sink. The answer? We think she should brave the weird hand-feel (is that a word?) of microfiber and use a carwash cloth, or a kind of think cotton-y towel.
You might even find some options which boast their absorbency. As Andrew suggested, go visit Bed, Bath, & Beyond (if only for…the…smell?).
We also heard from Morgan who had an amazing idea about pot and pan storage:
Command hooks! Which, I didn’t know, was a brand name (I thought it was just the kind of sticky hook). There are a lot of kinds in all different appearances, which make me want to hang everything, everywhere.
