149: Been There, Dawn That

Is it OK to check your crusty, eco-friendly, no-plastic morals at the door if you find a product that works better…but is, like, you know…not great? There’s no ethical consumption under capitalism and let’s be honest, BP and Walmart have done more to pollute the planet in the last 60 seconds than you ever could in a lifetime. But at the same time, if everyone thinks that, isn’t that much bigger issue?

We get into that in this week’s episode. Listen here:

Among our potential cruelty-free, less-plastic suggestions for our listener who had recently tried a more conventional route are:

Because of course, while we love Mrs. Meyer’s for the scents (flavors), they’re pretty heavy on packaging, make some suspicious claims, AND are still basically a regular-ass dish soap that’s just been gussied up a bit. Plus, the company is still owned by SC Johnson. So take that for what you will!

In other news, Andrew isn’t as elated about his new vacuum as he expected. Is he spoiled from nearly a decade of Dyson but is it just that vacuums reach a peak of potential excitement because, eventually, it’s just a vacuum?

And finally, a word of advice: If you know guys are coming to clean your vents, try to get a dog-sitter and something because they will not necessarily loop you in on their every step and you might not get to see those satisfying before and afters!
